Firefighter Dunn was born and raised in Wildwood, NJ. His grandfather, Tom, worked for the municipal fire division as a part-time firefighter during the 1970s and 80s and was a life member of the Wildwood Fire Co. #1. Dan basically grew up in the firehouse and spent a lot of time there. In 1999, Dan was hired as a part-time firefighter assigned to the D platoon. Dan graduated from Wildwood Catholic High School in 2000 and attended the University of New Haven in Connecticut. Dan continued to work part-time at both the Wildwood and North Wildwood Fire Department while in college. Dan graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors Degree in Fire Science in January, 2004. Dan also received the Outstanding Student in Fire Science Award for 2004. Dan was appointed provisional on January 1, 2004 in the Wildwood Fire Dept. and appointed full time on March 26, 2004. Firefighter Dunn is currently assigned to the A platoon.
Firefighter Dunn holds certifications as Firefighter 1, Firefighter 2, Fire Official, Haz-Mat On Scene Incident Commander, EMT-B, Fire Service Instructor Level 1, SCBA/Live Burn Instructor, Incident Management Level 2, and Housing Code Official.
Firefighter Dunn continues to live in Wildwood with his wife, Kate. F/F Dunn is currently the Secretary for Wildwood FMBA Local # 50. F/F Dunn is currently enrolled in Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA pursuing his Masters Degree in Public Safety Management.
